Kia Motors plans to switch to a new logo in January 2021. In addition to it, the corporate slogan of the company will also change - the motto The Power to Surprise, used for many years, will be replaced by Movement that inspires (Movement that inspires). This is reported by The Korean Car Blog.

Recall that the first rumors about the imminent change of the Kia logo began to circulate in the fall of 2019. In February 2020, such plans were confirmed by the president of Kia Motors Park Han-Wu. In the fall of 2020, Kia announced its intention to launch a new identity in January 2021.

Kia Motors patented a new graphic solution of the logo a year and a half ago. It represents the brand name written without gaps. Graphics are rendered with deliberate symmetry of the vertical lines of all three letters and the diagonal lines of K and A. The signature red tint of the Kia emblem is retained, but the oval frame is no longer there. The ends are sharp, with bevels.

A similar emblem - without an oval and with symmetrical graphics - lit up on the Imagine by Kia concept crossover shown at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2019. But it had rounded, not beveled ends. A feature of this concept is 21 digital displays in the cabin and an unusual body shape - something between a station wagon and a sports coupe.

Security documents for the new logo in combination with the slogan were issued at the end of 2020.

The badge is expected to be rolled out to Kia vehicles within the month. Probably, at first it is used on newly released models, and on the rest of the line it will be introduced gradually - as planned restyling is carried out. Nothing is known about the timing of the change of logos in the design of dealerships and advertising printed products - it is unlikely that this will happen overnight.

Recall that the current Kia logo appeared in 2004, it is a modernized emblem of the 1994 model. The name of the brand itself consists of the characters Ki, that is, "origin", and A, which symbolizes Asia. Throughout history, Kia has had five logos, if you count the current one. However, on some models for the home, Korean market, the company, like the Japanese automakers, uses individual emblems - for example, the Stinger sports sedan and the Mohave SUV.
