Italian Alfa Romeos to start production in Poland
Concern FCA (Fiat-Chrysler) is investing $ 204 million in the modernization of its plant in the Polish city of Tychy, after which it will begin production of hybrid and electric cars Jeep, Fiat and Alfa Romeo.
This enterprise has been part of Fiat since 1992, and currently produces the Fiat 500 and Lancia Ypsilon hatchbacks, as well as the Fiat Panda. After the modernization, the product range will expand with three more models - one each from Jeep, Alfa Romeo and Fiat. The concern does not go into details, in the announcement of investments, he calls promising cars "technologically advanced", as well as based on a "new concept of mobility."
There is no more specific information on this yet, but the range of Alfa Romeo at the moment consists only of cars with internal combustion engines. The electrified power plant will receive in 2021 the yet-to-be-presented Tonale crossover, the concept of which was shown in March 2019 at the Geneva auto show, although the option of producing a new subcompact SUV in Poland is not excluded.
At Fiat, the range of electric vehicles is represented only by the Citicar 500, the Jeep range of hybrids consists of the Renegade 4xe and Compass 4xe crossovers (the brand does not offer fully electric models yet), they have been sold in Europe since December 2020.
According to Zigwheels, the production of cars at the modernized Polish plant will begin in mid-2022.
