The jury of the international competition "Car of the Year in Europe - 2021" (European Car of the Year 2021) has determined the list of participants, from among whom the best car of the next year will be selected.

All candidates are new cars, they are on sale now or will be available before the end of the year in at least five European countries. The voting process includes two stages. During the first, a shortlist of seven finalists is determined - they will be announced on January 8, 2021. The second round will reveal a single winner. The results will be summed up on March 1.

Recall that the European Car of The Year award was established in 1964, its organizers are the largest automotive publications in Western Europe, including Autocar (Great Britain), Auto (Italy), the Auto application of Stern magazine (Germany), L'Automobile (France) and others. The jury includes 60 reputable auto journalists from all over Europe, Russia is represented by Sergei Znaemsky (Auto review) and Vadim Ovsyankin (Vedomosti newspaper).

The winner of the competition in 2020 was the electric Peugeot 208. Before that, the Jaguar I-Pace was triumphant. In 2018, the award went to the Volvo XC40; in 2017, 2016, 2015, and 2014, the winners were the Peugeot 3008, Opel Astra, Volkswagen Passat, and Peugeot 308, respectively.
