Drivers received fines of 3000 rubles for standing in a traffic jam

In Moscow, drivers began to receive "letters of happiness" for simply standing in a traffic jam.

In the fall of 2020, on Malaya Filevskaya Street, the camera began to record the wrong parking lot (before that, it only monitored speeding). Such a violation is detected as follows: if the time during which the car stands in one place exceeds two minutes, then an administrative protocol is generated and a fine for parking in a prohibited area in the amount of 3,000 rubles is issued.

But something went wrong, and the camera began to mistake drivers for violators who simply stood at a red traffic light.

“The problem is known, it is being solved, at the moment such fines are not issued from this camera,” the traffic police in the Western District of Moscow commented to Moskovsky Komsomolets.

Drivers who received unlawful fines were advised to appeal them through the portal of Moscow state services.

Earlier in December, the State Duma approved an appeal against fines from traffic cameras through state services. Previously, the legislation did not prescribe a special procedure for appealing against such decisions. In this regard, the drivers had a long and difficult time to prove their innocence and to challenge undeserved penalties. Now it is possible to appeal against the decision on the offense recorded by the cameras through the portal of state services. The law will come into force on September 1, 2021.
