Hyundai will start selling electric vehicles in Russia in 2021

Hyundai Motor intends to launch electric vehicle sales in Russia in late 2021 - early 2022. The first for Russians will be available Hyundai 45. This was announced by Alexey Kalitsev, Managing Director of Hyundai Motor CIS, at the final press conference of the company.

“Regarding electric transport, we really plan to launch electric cars next year. At the beginning of next year, our first all-electric Concept 45 will be presented in Korea. We plan to bring it exactly and with its launch in Russia to start selling electric cars, "TASS quotes him.

The manufacturer is also preparing to bring other electric vehicles to the Russian car market, but it is too early to talk about specific dates for the start of sales.

According to Hyundai forecasts, the main demand for electric vehicles will come from Moscow and Sochi.

Kalitsev also expressed the hope that in 2021 Russia will see new initiatives in the field of state support for the sale of electric vehicles.

The Hyundai 45 is a concept car unveiled at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show. It was created in honor of the 45th anniversary of the brand, the exterior of the car is inspired by the historical prototype Hyundai Pony Coupe in 1974, the appearance of which was created by the legendary Italian designer Giorgetto Giugiaro.

Initially, it was assumed that the Hyundai 45 itself would not go on sale, but would only determine the direction in the development of the design of electric vehicles and conventional cars of the company, however, due to the high public interest in this development, Hyundai Motor decided to release a commercial vehicle with such a design.

The Korean brand already has serial electric vehicles Kona and Ioniq, but they are not supplied to Russia.
