Volkswagen patented Polo Sport in Russia
In Russia, the passive safety of the Bestune T77 crossover of the Chinese company FAW was checked. The car was crashed at the NAMI Test Center, the video was posted on YouTube by the FAW car lovers channel.
The Bestune T77 passed a frontal crash test with a 40% deformable overlap. No details of the conditions and results are provided, but it appears to be a certification crash test. If so, then the car was accelerated to 56 km / h. Note that independent tests of Euro NCAP according to the 1997 protocol are tougher - they accelerate to 64 km / h.
As far as can be judged from the video, the security systems worked well: the passenger capsule remained intact (not even the windshield pillar was bent), the front airbags fired in a timely manner.
The video also contains footage of a side impact - the deployment of the side airbags is clearly visible.
In 2019, Bestune T77 was inspected by the Chinese organization C-IASI (China Insurance Automotive Safety Index). The methodology includes a more complex frontal crash test at a speed of 64 km / h with a 25 percent non-deformable overlap (the same applies to the US Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, IIHS). The crossover received an overall rating of "Satisfactory". At the same time, experts criticized the model for the blow itself with an overlap of 25% and gave it “bad”.
Recall that the Bestune T77 is built on a front-wheel-drive platform with a semi-independent rear suspension. Its length, width, and height are 4525, 1845, and 1615 mm, respectively, with a wheelbase of 2700 mm. That is, in terms of size, this model can be compared to the Hyundai Tucson.
The car will soon be available in Russia. It is expected that we will sell it with a 143-horsepower 1.2-liter turbo engine. Buyers will be able to choose between a 5-speed "mechanics" and a 7-speed "robot" with two clutches.
Bestune T77 prices have not yet been announced.
