Hyundai confirmed the date of appearance of the second generation Creta in Russia

Hyundai Motor has once again confirmed that production and sales of the second-generation Creta crossover will begin in Russia in 2021. The conclusion of the novelty is listed as the main point in the plans of the Russian plant of the concern for the next year, follows from the press release of December 29. The novelty, like the current Cretu model, will be produced at the facilities of Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Rus in Sestroretsk near St. Petersburg.

There are still a few official details about the model. A week earlier, the managing director of Hyundai Motor CIS, Aleksey Kalitsev, said that the next Creta in the specification for Russia will receive an original look: “Our Creta is of a completely unique design. It will be different. We tried to make sure that it would be liked by Russian consumers as much as possible ”. The top manager noted that Crete II will begin to roll off the assembly line of the Sestroretsk plant from June next year.

The new Creta was launched in India in March 2020. Compared to the car of the current model, it is made in a completely different style - more complex, with intricate optics and plastic surfaces of the body panels. The car is 10 mm longer, 10 mm wider and 8 mm taller than its predecessor. The Indian Creta in the left-hand drive version is already supplied to Latin America.

Even earlier, in October 2019, sales of the second-generation Hyundai ix25 model began in China. The former was generally similar to the Russian Crete, with the exception of regional features. Also, the new ix25 is visually similar to the Indian version of the Creta of the second generation, although it differs in the interior and the set of power units.

The Russian public appreciated the extraordinary exterior of Creta II ambiguously. At the same time, it is unlikely that the next Creta for the Russian Federation will seriously differ in design from cars for India and China - most likely, the model will receive other front and rear bumper groups in the specification for us - and this will limit the "originality" of the design.

In China, the ix25 is equipped with a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine (115 hp), a 1.4-liter turbocharged engine (140 hp), and a 1.5-liter diesel engine (115 hp).

In Russia, the first generation Creta is sold with 1.6 Gamma gasoline engines (123 HP, 151 Nm) or 2.0 Nu (149 HP, 192 Nm). The motors are paired with 6-speed gearboxes: both manual and automatic - to choose from. Drive - front or full.

Now Creta costs from 1,067,000 rubles for a 123-strong version with "mechanics" and front-wheel drive. Creta of the current generation has been produced in Russia since 2016 and is one of the constant hits of the local car market. According to the AEB, in January - November 2020, 66,478 Hyundai Creta were sold in Russia - this is the most popular crossover on the market.
